What is it made of and what makes the difference between the milions panettone producted every year?
PuraVitaFood celebrates its 10 years collaboration with Carbè bakery in Siracusa, Sicily, importing our favorite panettones in the world. Made with local ingredients and enriched with exclusive ingredients such as natural creamed butter and exquisite vanilla from faraway Madagascar, they will delight even the most demanding palates.
We choose to offer a handmade panettone, made with nutritious, quality ingredients, because that's what we grew up with. Consuming and therefore offering only artisanal and genuine products is part of our values. Panettone is a dessert invented in Milan, traces of which can be found as far back as 1200. The first written recipe using the name panettone dates back to around 1600. Since then, millions of panettone have been created, and over time, countless variations in the filling have emerged. What we expect from panettone, however, is always the same: softness, sweetness and fillings that taste like winter.
Unfortunately, profit motives have led many to industrialize the production of this sweet treat, which remains a leavened bread loaded with eggs, butter, and sugar, so it will be necessary to fill the final product with preservatives to ensure its mass commercialization. Let's not overlook the price. The industry offers this sweet treat at an unrealistic price. Eggs, flour, and butter come at a cost. The giants charge for sugar, preservatives, and synthetic raw materials. Last but not least: time. A real panettone takes time.
At Carbè bakery, research preceded diligent practice, and the result is extraordinary. Thanks to a slow and gradual natural leavening process lasting xx hours, a guarantee of the unparalleled quality and goodness of Italian baking tradition, the texture is incredibly soft. Their recipe was developed following the teachings of master pastry chef Iginio Massari who focuses on knowledge and quality of the raw food materials. Furthermore, Siracusa and its surrounding hills offer all the quality raw materials necessary for the creation of a product that is not only tasty but also incredibly genuine.
This Christmas, when you buy a panettone, do the math. Read the ingredients and quickly calculate how much they'll cost. Add in three days' wages for at least two people. Be honest with yourself: wouldn't you feel cheated if you paid a kilo of hay for a kilo of gold, or vice versa?
